Whirling *

breath flows through hollowed wood, rhythms rise and fall.

hearing their echoes released,

her eyes close, listening,

slowly she begins turning.

arms gracefully extended

away from body, her tempo

quickens, tilting her head

back as she twirls

continuously, caught in

in a vortex of her making.

sending her mind to a higher

plain. There in the desert

her Beloved appears, arms

raised, encircles her in his light.

His assures her with words

written by a poet who loved

with a gentle forgiving heart,

“Oh sweet bitterness, I will

soothe you and heal you. I will bring you roses. I too have been covered with thorns.” she

listens in silence. His lessons

like grains of sand have no

measure each one special,

limitless in their meaning.

time spins shifts, she stops,

kneels rests on her heels.

Opens her eyes lifts her face

to the sky, feels a deep

void at this moment. her

soul knows that she will

spin again, that she my

hear her Beloved once again.

her faith in Him tells her so.

Sufi Meditation Music

The Journey Begins

In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.
